    Length: Year Grade Level(s): 7-8 Final Assessment(s): Department Examination

    Instruction in General Science 7 and 8 incorporates common core literacy in science practices to help students ground reading, writing, and discussion in evidence from informational text as part of learning science. Students are further challenged to apply and extend inquiry and process skills to address real life problems and make informed decisions through hands-on laboratory exercises.

    7201/7250: link to curriculum map; General Science 7 emphasizes important concepts and applications in geology, matter and energy, classification, and organisms.
    8201/8250: link to curriculum map; General Science 8 emphasizes important concepts and applications in Constancy and Change (reproduction, heredity, forces and motion, seasons and cycles, and humans in their environment). Students will sit for the NYS Science Written and Performance Examination.
