If your teacher allows, you can communicate with your class on the Stream page using posts, comments, and replies.
- A post is information or a question you add to the class stream.
For example: When do we visit the museum? - A comment is a response to a post or another comment.
For example: We go next Friday. - A reply is a response to someone’s comment that mentions them.
For example: +commenter’s name Thanks!
Not all teachers allow posts and comments on the Stream page.
Note: If you don't want to post to the Stream page, you can send a private comment to your teacher on an assignment or question.
Post to the Stream page
- Tap Classroom

- Tap the class.
- On the Stream page, tap Share with your class.
Note: If you don’t see Share with your class, a teacher turned off permissions to post.
- Enter your message and tap Post

You can attach items to your post, such as images, files, Google Drive items, YouTube videos, or links.
- Tap Classroom

- Tap the class.
- On the Stream page, tap Share with your class. If you don’t see Share with your class, a teacher turned off permissions to post.

Note: If you see a message that you don’t have permission to attach a file, tap Copy. Classroom makes a copy to attach to your post and saves it to the class Drive folder.
About Drive files with earlier versions of Android
Attaching files from Drive on your Android device depends on which version you’re running. To check which version of Android your device uses, go to Check your Android version.
If you use Android 4.4 (Kit Kat), you won't see the Drive icon , but you can still attach Drive files:
- Tap File
select a file to attach.
If you use Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean), when you click the Drive icon , you’ll be asked to update your device. For instructions, go to Update your Android version. The update might not work on some older devices, but you can choose another option:
- Copy the file link from your mobile browser
tap Add link
to attach it.
- Use a computer rather than a mobile device.
You can only delete your own posts.
- Tap Classroom

- Tap the class.
- On the post, tap More
Delete.
- Tap Delete to confirm.
Comment on posts
A teacher can delete comments. If a teacher turned off permissions to post, you can't add comments.
Comments are text only—you can’t add pictures, links, or videos.
- Tap Classroom

- Tap the class.
- On the post, tap Add class comment
Add class comment.
- Enter your comment and tap Post
.
You can only delete your own comments.
- Tap Classroom
.
- Tap the class.
- Find the post with your comment and tap number class comment.
- Tap the comment
Delete.
- Tap Delete to confirm.
Send a private comment to your teacher
You can make a comment to your teacher that only they can see. When you’re assigned work, you can send a private comment to your teacher from the assignment or question.
- Tap Classroom

- Tap the class.
- On the Stream page, tap the question or assignment.
- Tap Add private comment, enter your comment
tap Post
