Ms. Wilkes and the Washington Rose Math Olympiads!
The Mathematical Olympiads for Elementary and Middle Schools is a math contest which provides opportunities for children to engage in creative problem solving activities. The purpose of the program is to stimulate enthusiasm, foster a love for mathematics and develop a child’s ability to reason.
The Washington Rose Math Olympiads meet twice a week to prepare for the five monthly online competitions. There are currently three thousand, seven hundred eighty-two (3,782) Math Olympiad teams and over forty-five thousand (45,000) students participating in the Division E (grades 4-6) competition.
The Washington Rose Math Olympiads just completed their first competition on November 12, 2013 and are preparing for the next contest on December 10, 2013. Math Olympiads is a great opportunity for students to learn strategies for problem solving and strengthen their math skills.
