• Hawk Thomas Visits Washington Rose!

    Each and every day the students at Washington Rose pledge to stand-up against bullying.  On Tuesday, February 11, 2014 Harlem Globetrotter Hawk Thomas visited Washington Rose Elementary School to talk about the ABCs of Bullying.  Hawk meet with students in Grades 3-6 and his message was simple, no matter what bullying is not ok.  Hawk taught the students the importance of using "action",  bravery" and "compassion" when handling a bully situation.  Several Washington Rose students helped Hawk as he displayed his basketball skills in the Gym, even fourth grade teacher Mrs. Simpson had a chance to do some tricks!  Many Washington Rose students had an opportunity to speak to local media about bullying.   
    The Harlem Globertrotters will be displaying their awesome basketball skills at Nassau Coliseum on February 15, 2014!
