• Washington Rose Hears the Long Island Philharmonic!

    About 200 Washington Rose School students from grades 2, 3 and 4 attended the Long Island Philharmonic “Symphonic Sci-Fi & Fantasy” Concert on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts.  Our students and teachers were thrilled to see and hear this amazing orchestra play symphonic music from Star Wars, Apollo 13, The Wizard of Oz, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Star Trek, The Lord of the Rings and Mars from Holst’s  The Planets. The audience was treated to an original composition “Concentric Circles” by the conductor/composer David Wiley. The concert finale included a student in a Stars Wars costume conducting the entire orchestra!
